Sales of S Club 7's hit single
Reach have gone sky-high for a second time, thanks to addictive new
ITV show Popstars.
Polydor records have had to
rush thousands more copies into record stores, which complained
they'd sold out since Popstars launched last week.
The renewed success of the
single, which originally reached number two in May, results from the
song being used to audition most of the TV show's 3,000 hopefuls,
desperate to win the ultimate prize of becoming a professional pop
star.
Meanwhile, record and TV bosses
are bracing themselves for Popstars madness over the 14-week run of
the Saturday night show.
Already Barbie-style dolls of
the final five have been put into production - without their heads,
which will be added when the winners are chosen.
